We're Moving! Can you say Texas!?

We're moving! Our lease is up on the 6th of July, and we put in our 30 day notice already. So now we're packing up all our stuff in boxes and getting ready to move out of our apartment.

Can you say Texas? I can too! In fact,  I'm willing to bet that most people in the United States know how to pronounce the name of this state. But that doesn't have anything to do with anything. Anyway, we're moving! About 12 minutes to the east, in Mesa.

You know when you fall behind on something and then can't get started because you feel you have to catch up on everything and then it becomes overwhelming so you don't start? I feel that way about blogging. But I know I like it when Alex and Eric blog, even if their posts are super short. It's better to have a short post than no post at all.

We can start moving in on the 28th. We went by yesterday to fill out the paperwork and pay the deposit. And so begins a new stage of life!

The Glen Group, and Super Mario Maker

To the Glen Group: Please out your desks back to where you got them from at the beginning of class! I don't have to keep moving them back to their original group at the end of every class period.

Also, I've watched a few of these Ceave Gaming videos on Super Mario maker and they're pretty sweet. It's awesome to me the creativity of how people are able to use simple things to set up crazy contraptions. A sample of one of his videos is below. It gives you a taste for the kind of things he does.

Vacation and such

My bracket in March Madness is currently #4 in my family's group.

I start teaching school again tomorrow. These last two weeks have been our family vacationing, then me subbing for some extra income.

On our vacation we went to White Sands National park where we sledded down some dunes, Carlsbad caverns 75 stories underground, kayaked down the Rio Grande, where I went across the river to Mexico so now I can say I've finally been outside the United States, went to some wildlife preserves so that we (mostly Heather) could go birdwatching, and visited the petrified forest in New Mexico.

Played 7-8 games of Quacks of Quedlinburg. It's really fun. Just like Camel Cup, it's not the most strategic game in the world, and has a fair amount of luck in it, but that never prevents you from having a great time. And you get to choose which ingredients you want to add to your bag, so in my opinion it has a bit more strategy than Camel Cup. I've played through all the suggested sets and staarted mixing things up, which gives you a lot of cool interactions.

New Interesting game

So I've been looking at games and the one that seems the most likely for me to get next is the Quacks of Quedlinburg. It has pool/deck building, which I love, as well as push your luck.

Here is a review:

It's not on Amazon currently. If it ever does pop up there, it would make a great birthday gift...

It has simple elements and simultaneous play! I love simultaneous play! And a whole lot of variety with the four different boards per ingredient, which you can mix and match sides to.

Klidrins cards

Here is what the cards for the Lab Mice reimplimintation look like. They are alien creatures called Klidrins.

Flavor text from the rule book:

Hearing of the discovery of a new species on one of the recently colonized worlds, you quickly get on the next spaceship to see what your destiny holds.

Klidrins: an odd species that consists of only a few genes that change their outward traits. With a government grant, you are able to purchase four of them, two male and two female. Your sights however, take you much further beyond that.

The planet’s scientists are all judging you based off the choices of Klidrins you breed. This isn’t the only thing effecting your decisions, as a slew of haphazard events might also shape your choices. Not only that, but in one year the mayor of the new colony will open up a Klidrin Amusement Park, and your prestige will rise and fall depending on how many attractions you can contribute to.

You have twelve months to build up your Klidrin population, but others have the same ideas and goals as you. Use equipment, sabotage, and even your Klidrin’s special abilities and powers to ensure your victory in the end.
